In fall 2014 my husband and I did the impossible.
We’d planned, saved, and worked up the courage to leave our three children with my parents and go on a cruise. We’d never had a honeymoon, and after years of procrastination, we finally made it happen.
Well, y’all listen up, because we really know how to make the most of our vacation & you might learn a thing or two from us masters.
The really pertinent part of my story begins mid-cruise. It was probably afternoon three or four of seven, and we’d gone back to the cabin to nap – because as parents, a legit nap was a coveted piece of vacation magic. We laid on our bed, in our balcony room with the beautiful and peaceful ocean at our fingertips… looking at our phones.
Mmmhmmmm, vacation masters indeed.
As lame as that sounds, it was hard leaving our kids. We spent at least three hours that day pouring over the last six years of our lives, laughing, and admiring all we’d accomplished as husband and wife- as mommy & daddy.
I don’t know what the future holds for us, but I can imagine that this is a good measuring stick for our lives as empty nesters. Sitting together, in beautiful places, looking back at the legacy of our lives, and some of the most breathtaking moments we’d ever see.
Have you ever done that? Just spent hours looking through all of the moments you’ve had with your kids and with your family? It gets you doesn’t it, makes you laugh and tear up, as you sift through every precious moment.
This is why I started offering family documentary sessions, and here are three big reasons why you need one:
Reason 1
A family documentary session preserves life, both the average and the extraordinary.
Each session yields images that, even years from now, will allow you to fall back in time.
Reason 2
These sessions are kid & husband approved. It doesn't even feel like a session, its just fun.
I mean, does it get better than that?
Reason 3
I’m there for you!
I’m preserving those memories, which truly allows you to be present in the moment instead of worrying about doing it yourself.
Live your life to its fullest.
Let me worry about capturing the magic of it.
Reason 4
(it's kind of a biggie)
You and your spouse will be present in these moments TOGETHER...
Together, you will focus on your children & making memories – how amazing is that?!
If I am being honest, this blog post could go on for hours because there are so many reasons to invest in a family documentary session.
Instead, I think I will leave you with this final thought:
These images & these stories… they are your legacy.
You, your children, and your grandchildren will cherish these moments forever.
Invest in your legacy. Let them see you, having fun, enjoying your family and loving your life.
All my best,
Kaci
